The Process of Customizing Kitchen Cabinets, Wardrobes and Joinery in China

This process applies to kitchen cabinets, pantry cabinets, wardrobes, bathroom cabinets, dressing room cabinets and laundry room cabinets. Understanding the process helps you negotiate with cabinet suppliers, compare custom cabinetry options more clearly, avoid mistakes and control quality more effectively.

1. Prepare the kitchen cabinet, wardrobe or joinery CAD drawing, floor plan or measurement details

First, prepare your kitchen cabinet drawing, CAD file or measurement details. If you do not have a cabinet drawing yet, you can also send us your floor plan, a simple hand sketch and some cabinet idea pictures. After further communication, we can help you prepare the quotation and production direction for the kitchen cabinet, wardrobe or millwork from China / joinery from China project. Please also mark any special site positions clearly, such as electrical outlets, switch panels, plumbing, drain pipes, water supply, gas pipes or floor drains. For these special positions, please provide the distance from the wall and from the finished floor, so we can better control cabinet openings, appliance positions, sink base details and installation clearance.

2. Confirm the kitchen cabinet and wardrobe design style you like

We will show you kitchen cabinet and wardrobe styles, or you can choose from the design galleries below. Once the style is clear, we can discuss color, door shape, handles, lighting, storage function, material direction and budget range before moving into quotation.

3. Choose the cabinet door material, color and carcass material

You need to confirm the door material, surface finish, color and the cabinet carcass material. This step affects cost, durability, environmental grade and the final look of the kitchen cabinet, wardrobe, bespoke cabinetry, joinery or millwork project.

Wardrobe Accessories for Walk-in Closets

Wardrobe accessories for clothes organization, shoes, jewelry, drawers, lighting and smart storage.

5. Choose built-in kitchen appliances

Built-in appliances should be confirmed before production. Ovens, microwaves, dishwashers, refrigerators, hobs, range hoods, wine coolers and coffee machines all require accurate cabinet openings, power positions, ventilation space, model dimensions and installation details.

Built-in Appliance Options

6. Confirm 2D CAD drawings and 3D design for custom cabinetry and joinery

For kitchen cabinet, wardrobe from China, bespoke cabinetry from China, joinery from China and millwork from China projects, the kitchen cabinet supplier/designer should provide CAD 2D dimensions and 3D design according to the approved layout. You should confirm the dimensions, door direction, fillers, accessories, countertop, appliance position, lighting position and installation notes before production.

9. Packaging and labeling

Packaging is also very important. Flat packing can save shipping space, while fixed or assembled packing can make site installation easier. Every box should be clearly labeled according to the 2D layout, and for some projects we even print a small 3D view or room image of the corresponding area on the label, so the client and installer can quickly identify which cabinet, panel, hardware set or accessory belongs to each space.

10. Shipping and documents for customs clearance

After production, inspection and packaging, the next step is shipping and export documents. Morefar Global can help receive goods in the warehouse, consolidate different suppliers, arrange container loading, shipping and related export documents such as the commercial invoice, packing list and other basic customs clearance files.

How to Find and Identify a Good Cabinet Supplier

Visit the showroom and check real samples. Look at the door finish, edge banding, hardware, drawers, hinges, internal structure and overall details.

Understand the factory and production system. Check whether the factory is clean and organized, and whether the production system can control cutting, labeling and assembly details. For higher-quality cabinet projects, also evaluate their production process, such as whether they use advanced equipment like German Homag edge-banding machines, German PUR glue, stable edge-banding strips such as Rehau, and environmental-grade boards such as F4-star or E0 boards when required by the project.

Check the packaging system. Good cabinets can still be damaged by poor packaging. Clear box labels should match the cabinet number, layout drawing and, when needed, a small 3D area reference.

Work with experienced designers. Many mistakes happen during design communication, not during production. The designer must understand dimensions, structure and installation.

Compare 2-3 suitable suppliers. Compare price together with material quality, hardware, packaging, delivery time, service and after-sales support.

The Three Biggest Concerns When Buying Custom Cabinets and Joinery from China

When overseas clients consider buying kitchen cabinets from China, the biggest concern is usually not only the price. Most clients are more worried about whether the project can be completed correctly after the products arrive. For custom kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, bathroom vanities, whole-house cabinetry and joinery projects, three questions are especially important.

1. Will the cabinet size be correct?

Morefar Global helps clients organize floor plans, CAD drawings, wall dimensions, ceiling height, appliance sizes, sink position, plumbing position, electrical position, countertop details and wardrobe internal layouts. Before production, the 2D drawings, 3D renderings, cabinet numbers, dimensions, opening directions and material details should be confirmed clearly. If there are special socket, plumbing, gas or drain positions, the distance from the wall and from the finished floor should also be confirmed. The client or local installer still needs to confirm final site measurements, but Morefar helps translate those measurements into supplier-ready production information. Small site differences can usually be adjusted with filler panels or other installation details, so a tolerance of around 1-2 cm is often manageable. We can also review a real-time site video with the client for one more layer of checking. As long as the measurements provided are accurate, the cabinet dimensions can normally be controlled very well.

2. How can the cabinets be installed?

Morefar Global helps make installation easier by asking the supplier to provide clear cabinet drawings, cabinet numbers, room labels, packing labels and installation reference information. Each cabinet, door panel, hardware set and accessory should match the drawing, so the local installer can understand which part belongs to which area. This is especially important for flat packing projects. For some projects, the carton label can even include a small 3D view of the corresponding room or cabinet zone, which helps the client and installer identify the correct package more quickly. For some projects, the cabinets can also be pre-assembled before shipping, so the client only needs to complete simpler on-site fixing, wall installation and final adjustment. If the installer has questions during installation, Morefar can help coordinate with the supplier in China.

3. What if packaging is damaged or parts are missing?

Packaging is one of the most important parts of a custom cabinet order. Morefar Global helps reduce this risk through pre-shipment inspection, packing-list confirmation, label checking and export-packing review. Before packing and loading, we can arrange trial assembly, take photos and videos for the client, and let our QC team check the cabinet body, doors, hardware, accessories and labels. If damage or missing parts are discovered after delivery, we help the client communicate with the supplier, review photos and videos, check the packing list, identify the issue and coordinate replacement parts or another practical solution. For shipping damage, we can also assist with the cargo insurance claim process to reduce the client’s loss.

With accurate measurements, clear drawings, organized labels, strong packaging and proper QC, buying custom cabinets from China can become much safer and easier to manage.
